As an educator, I hold the belief that children are the greatest educators in our world. Our role as qualified professionals is to nurture, observe, guide, and support them as they learn and develop new skills.

In the journey of learning with each child, we witness their personal growth in all areas. The most rewarding aspect of being an educator in childcare is the opportunity to facilitate learning experiences through play, allowing us to observe children developing in all areas including social, emotional, physical, cognitive, psychological, and language.

I firmly believe that we, as adults, learn just as much from children as they learn from us and from each other. This mutual learning and growth are what makes working in childcare a truly enriching experience.

Overall, it is an honour to be a part of each child’s learning journey and to witness their progress and development. I am committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for each child to learn, play and grow in all areas of their life.

I believe that children are naturally curious and eager to learn about the world around them. As unique individuals with varying interests and learning styles, children require personalized approaches to education that are tailored to their individual needs.

At the heart of my teaching philosophy is the belief that children are capable and competent learners who benefit most from experiential, play-based learning opportunities. Through play, children can explore, create, imagine, and develop a sense of wonder about the world around them.

As an educator, it is my duty to provide a caring and compassionate environment that nurtures children’s natural curiosity, high expectations, and supports them on their individual learning journeys. I strive to create a safe and engaging learning environment that fosters creativity and spontaneity, allowing children to grow at their own pace and reach their full potential.

I believe that childhood is a critical period for shaping a child’s physical and mental well-being across five key areas: language, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. It is essential during this formative stage to provide a supportive and enriching environment that nurtures all aspects of a child’s growth.

My educational philosophy emphasizes the importance of a nurturing environment where play-based learning is central. Play serves as a natural and effective method for children to explore, experiment, and make sense of their world. Through play, children develop critical thinking, creativity, and social skills.

I prioritize encouraging children to make their own choices, rather than making decisions for them. This approach promotes independence and self-confidence. I value and actively listen to their opinions and feelings, ensuring they feel respected and understood. Supporting each child’s unique developmental pace and individual needs is crucial.

As an educator, I am dedicated to creating a learning environment that fosters play-based learning and ensures safety. I respect children’s choices and build strong partnerships with families. My aim is to support the holistic development of each child, helping them thrive in all areas of their growth.

I believe every child is unique, capable, and naturally curious. The early years matter—they shape learning, confidence, and a strong sense of self. When families trust me with their children, I see it as a privilege. I care for each child as I would expect for my own, creating a safe, joyful, and nurturing space where they feel valued and ready to explore.

Through play, stories, and everyday moments, I guide children to discover, problem-solve, and build friendships. I support their learning, confidence, and happiness so they feel understood, respected, and loved. I act with the qualities every parent hopes for—patience, kindness, and heart—and I work in partnership with families.

My goal is for every child to flourish, knowing they are supported by both their family and me.

Jo Anne Doral holds a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and is currently completing her Diploma to further strengthen her knowledge and skills. She began her professional journey in the early childhood sector in May 2024, working with toddlers (2–3 years) in her first centre. She is now continuing her career in a Montessori-inspired centre, where she is building experience in child-led, holistic education and the prepared environment.

Jo Anne believes every child is unique and capable. As an educator, she approaches each child with empathy, patience, and respect for individual differences and circumstances. She is committed to creating calm, safe, and orderly environments where children feel valued and can explore, learn, and grow at their own pace. Her goal is to guide children in their academic development while also supporting confidence, independence, and positive social connections.

Children are naturally curious and eager to explore the world around them. They are active participants in their own learning, capable of making decisions and pursuing their interests. I believe that children should first be seen and understood as individuals, rather than shaped into what adults expect them to become. Every child is born with the ability to learn.

As an educator, I see my role as a listener and observer. I value children’s questions and enjoy finding answers together. Through purposeful questioning and well-planned learning experiences, I help children identify problems, share their ideas, and build critical thinking skills. I view families and the broader community as important partners in education. Children’s cultural backgrounds and home experiences should be genuinely reflected and respected within the curriculum.

When designing learning environments, I focus on creating spaces that are open, safe, and full of opportunities — places where children can make choices, work with others, or take time to manage their emotions. My goal is for every child to leave with new understanding, a sense of joy, confidence, and a lasting curiosity to continue learning.

I have always been surrounded by children and that’s what inspired me to pursue a career in working with them. As an educator, I find great joy in providing quality interactions and learning experiences for children. Witnessing their development and unique personalities is a rewarding experience. I believe in creating hands-on activities and experiences for children to help them develop their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. Every day, I strive to be the best educator I can be and provide the best possible care and education for each child.
